Megan Jones

Megan Jones is an elite three-day event rider. Megan competed as a team member in the Australian eventing team at the Beijing Olympics winning a team silver medal. Megan was the best performed team member finishing individually third in the teams' competition and, but for rolling a rail on the last show jump, Megan would have also won an individual silver medal.

Megan is currently ranked number three rider in the world in the FEI’s event rider rankings (an outstanding achievement for an Australian-based rider) and first in the Oceania group. She has also recently won the HSBC World Cup Qualifiers in both Australia and New Zealand. Megan’s Olympic horse, Kirby Park Irish Jester, is the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses’ top-ranked horse for 2008.

Born and raised in South Australia, Megan stands confidently by her successful track record that has led her to where she is today. At 33 years of age, Megan competes as one of Australia's top riders nationally and represents Australia internationally. Born with a passion for horses and the equestrian sport, Megan has the strong focus and discipline required to pursue the dream of all elite athletes, to win a gold medal for Australia.

To ensure that she will be able to maintain her competitiveness, Megan has her own successful breeding program at Kirby Park Stud. This ensures that Megan is able to have a supply of personally trained, high performance horses for such a demanding sport. Check the program for times of events featuring Megan Jones.

Megan will ride in the Olympic all stars masterclass with fellow Olympians Heath Ryan and Laurie Lever. (This is a special, separately ticketed event.)

As part of our general admission program and included in your daily ticket price, Megan will also present an eventing clinic, where some of Tasmania's most promising horse and rider combinations will receive the benefit of Megan's experience. Spectators can expect to gain valuable insight into training for eventing at several different levels.

Megan will also be part of the breeders' forum along with Heath Ryan. This is an open discussion on their breeding programs for competition horses of the future and a chance for the audience to ask questions and be involved in the discussion.

Don't miss Megan Jones and Laurie Lever's Olympic Journey seminar which is included in your general admission day ticket.
