Laurie Lever is one of Australia’s elite jumping riders. In 1993 Laurie took three horses to Europe to compete with, including World Cup horse Wyalkatchem. Laurie continued to ride on the international circuit from 1993 to 1998 with a team of horses sponsored by Swedish timber merchant Lars Hedin. He had many successes at shows like Bourg-en-Bresse, Vichy, Lons Le Sonier, Hickstead, Sunshine Tour in Spain, Rostock, Cervia, Biarritz, Lisbon and Olympia.
Well-known for his ability to train young horses with an emphasis on flat work, Laurie has won the Jumping with the Stars event for young horses for two consecutive years with Ashleigh Drossel Dan (2005) and La Laina (2006), both of whom have gone on to greater heights.
Laurie represented Australia at the Beijing Olympic Games with Ashleigh Drossel Dan and since returning to Australia has won the World Cup Qualifiers at Equitana and Sale and been placed second at Wodonga.
Ashleigh Drossel Dan is the first Australian AI-bred horse to reach Olympic status.
